Every business starts with an idea. It’s the idea that propels the business forward. But it’s also true that there are a lot of great ideas that never get off the ground. That’s because it takes more than a great idea to start a business.
After developing your idea and before launching, you have to raise some cash. There’s no denying that seed money helps kickstart the development of a product or service. More importantly, though, it helps validate your core idea. After all, there’s no point in launching a new business to crickets.
That’s one of the things that makes Noded’s AI-driven productivity platform so unique, and one of the reasons why Vit Koval wanted to talk to Chris Port of Noded AI on the Default Global Podcast.
The power of Noded’s AI note-taking app has attracted some serious attention (and some serious funds). And it all starts with the pesky problem that Noded AI solves.
There’s one thing Chris talks about on the podcast that customer service people definitely understand.
You’re done having a meeting with a client. There are important notes from the meeting that you couldn’t upload while you were speaking because it would require you to log into a handful of platforms when you’re supposed to be concentrating on your conversation. So, you’re supposed to go into those platforms and update the information after your meeting.
Sounds simple enough. Except it rarely is.
There’s always another meeting you have to run to or another urgent task that requires your immediate attention. You put the updates on your to-do list, but because it’s time-consuming and unfulfilling, you put it off. Before you know it, someone has to bug you to get the information in the system because it fell so far to the bottom of your to-do list that it fell off your list altogether.
With over 50 years of experience between Noded AI’s founders, Chris Port and Steve Wood, it’s a pain point they understand well.
Early on in their careers, they were the ones being nagged to update platforms like Salesforce with customer information they knew about. Later in their careers, they were the ones doing the nagging, begging employees to get their info on the right platform so it could be retrieved later.
They didn’t want to do it, and no one else wants to do it either. We all want to focus on the customer experience, client relationships, and solving customer problems, not entering or retrieving information on apps.
It's this common experience that inspired Chris and Steve to create an AI-driven productivity platform. With Noded AI, there's no need to remember to upload your information on the right platforms or figure out which platform to access in order to find the customer info you're looking for. All your apps come to you on one platform. You can take notes and update customer information in real time. It supports simplified productivity for teams so you can solve customer problems and stop appin' around.
Chris and Steve had the idea for an AI-driven productivity platform, but they took it one step further.
They actually created an alpha product.
They had a vision deck too. It highlighted all the details about the platform so potential investors could see exactly what the AI note-taking app was all about. But having an actual product is what really sealed the deal.
Investors could see how the concept of an AI-driven productivity platform could actually come to life (like Frankenstein’s monster—but way better). They could see how the platform integrates your personal agenda and active tasks, each one clickable, pulling all the information you need to know about each one from many different apps. Then, all you have to do is complete tasks and update notes within Noded itself.
Being able to see exactly how Noded AI offers simplified productivity for teams is what enabled them to raise $4 million, and they did it with only around 45 meetings with potential investors.
Raising money is vital, but where that money comes from is just as important as the money itself. There’s value in being strategic about choosing the right partners, which is exactly what Chris and Steve did.
Starting mindfully with who they wanted to talk to, Chris and Steve were able to leverage introductions from others, even if that particular person wasn’t interested in investing. With so few cold calls and a heaping pile of warm introductions, they interacted with potential investors thinking about how their AI-driven productivity platform could benefit from a long-term relationship.
With decades of experience in the tech space, they know the people you work with mean everything, so they really focused in on what investors could bring to the table besides funds. They were able to be selective, which means getting the transparent, honest, insightful support they need from the leaders of impressive companies like Slack, Okta, Bessemer, and more.
With an alpha version of the product, millions in start-up funds, and strategic partners, Noded’s AI-driven productivity platform has attracted over 1,000 people who have signed up for the beta.
